BLACK LIGHT BURNS
"Cruel Melody" (I Am / Wolfpack; 2007)
Reviewed by Snidermann
Heavy metal, hard rock and a bit of techno thrown in just for fun -- mix all those together and you get Black Light Burns and their
CD, "Cruel Melody."
The music explodes from the CD with thunderous force and does not let up until the album comes slowly to an end. Wes Borland, formerly of Limp Bizkit, adds a lot to this already very talented band. I like some techno if it is not overdone and only if it enhances the overall project and Black Light Burns does that with flare.
I must say that I am not a Limp Bizkit fan, by any stretch. They depend on rap way too much for my taste and Black Light Burns utilizes rock music as a background and brings in all the other stuff to make a better CD.
The more I listen to this, the better I like it. This may make my top ten list for 2007 -- the CD is that good. No matter how you get to know this band, whether it's through iTunes, MySpace or their website, just do it. This is one awesome band!
