BEARTOOTH

"The Surface" (Red Bull Records; 2023)

Reviewed by Snidermann

The best part of working at RoughEdge.com is discovering bands that have been around for a few years, but I have no idea who they are. Beartooth is just such a band. It was originally formed by Caleb Shomo as a offshoot of the band he was formerly vocalist in, Attack! Attack!

This music is strong and heavy, vocally ranging from the light and airy to the a screaming animal in a beat. The music also has a wide range from soft to blistering that comes and goes very quickly. Can you see a pattern forming? Country artist Hardy joins them on a track called "The Better Me."

I did enjoy this musical roller coaster of a recording. This is just the band's latest. They've been at it since 2014 and have released five albums. I really don’t know much about Beartooth from just listening to "The Surface" but you know what that means ... I’m going to have to listen to all their previous recordings just to figure out this puzzle. And I'm looking forward to it!

Good, quality rock recording!
