BACKSTREET LAW

"Hockey Helmet" (Riviere)

I have just one word to say about Riviere recording artists Backstreet Law - WOW! Their full-length CD, "Hockey Helmet," is 14 tracks and almost 70 minutes of rock music with enough punch to make your head spin.

This band is a bunch of loud, screaming lunatics that play heavy at a breathless pace throughout this recording. Backstreet Law has made quite a name for themselves with their constant touring (250 shows in 1997 with some stops on the Vans Warped Tour of that same year) and now with this killer CD.

Some of the music is a bit repetitious in spots and it sometimes tends to drag, but if you can get past that, you come to understand that this is one of the best heavy metal/rock bands working today. Most of the songs on this CD have lots of radio air potential.

I am definitely going to look for this band live. My ears hurt like hell just listening to the CD - I wonder what they'll feel like after seeing the band live - and I intend to find out!

Backstreet Law's experience shows with the sheer number of songs and amount of music on this recording. These guys obviously love what they do and that exuberance flows out of the speakers and onto the listener.

If you like your rock at a hard, furious, breathless pace, Backstreet Law is right up your alley.

Backstreet Law is Matt "Goody" Goodreau; Jamie "T-Bag" Morral; Jeremy "Edge" Edge and Mike "Choke" Oakley.
