"King of Stars - Bearer of Dark"  (Deathgasm; 2005)

Reviewed by Snidermann

Musical styles and musical tastes are as varied as fingerprints. One man's screaming is another man's singing and I hate to condemn vocal styles.

But, what the hell, I am a music critic and that's what we do.

Azure's "King of Stars - Bearer of Dark" is very tight and well performed, full of emotion and technical ability -- just what you're looking for in a heavy metal band. The vocals, however, are ... well, distressed. Even on the slower ballad-like tunes, I found the vocals to be harsh and forced.

Azure is a hugely talented band and it shows on each and every track of "King of Stars - Bearer of Dark." Me, I just could not get past the screeching vocals.
