AXAMENTA

"Ever-Arch-I-Tech-Ture" (Shiver Records; 2006)

When you hear killer metal, it's like a slap in the face and a fist to the gut. And that's what I felt when I heard Axamenta's "Ever-Arch-I-Tech-Ture" for the first time.

There is a very sophisticated story here that I have yet to figure out. The good news is that I'm going to have a great time trying to figure it out!

Although the band features only two singers, the vocals here are varied here enough so that sometimes you'll think there's three. From the clear and concise "clean" vocals to the growler and the screamer, the vocals on this CD will definitely hold your interest.

This CD simply kicks fucking ass from start to finish with no stopping to even catch a breath in between. According to the band's website, they love movie scores and their music here shows that in every note they play. Right from the start, I knew I was listening to sometime special as I listened to "Ever-Arch-I-Tech-Ture" and, even with repeated listenings, I am still completely certain of that.

So-so. You've heard better.
