AWKWARD THOUGHT

"Ruin a Good Time" (Thorp Records; 2003)

Something about Awkward Thought's "Ruin a Good Time" hit musical home with me. Loaded to the gills with anger and aggression, "Ruin A Good Time" is hardcore / metal music that must be just fucking awesome live.  The raw onslaught of the music contained herein was instantly infectious and made me want to bang my head immediately. In my opinion, that's a strong indicator of great music.

Like  a lot of extreme music, the vocal style here is a one dimensional screaming fest. The difference is that it fits so well.

Sometimes a CD cover simply must be mentioned, as in this case. The cover depicts about ten people being impaled on long sticks, blood flowing freely, just like the computer game Doom.

Awkward Thought: John Franko - vocals; Alex Carpenter - drums; Dusty Blackwell - guitars; Alex Walker - guitars; Paul DeCourcey - bass.

Killer. Not a classic but it will rock your world.

So-so. You've heard better.

Pretty bad. Might make a nice coaster.

Self explanatory. Just the sight of the cover makes you wanna hurl.
