This collection combines the two previously released entities with a slew of operatically-tinged guest appearance metal bonus goodness for an essential purchase for the definitive fan of Sammet and his powerful and melodic metal musings.

"The Scarecrow" (Nuclear Blast; 2008)
Reviewed by Mike SOS
German metal vocalist Tobias Sammet enlisted quite a number of friends to assist him in creating the latest offering from his project Avantasia, the 11-track album entitled "The Scarecrow."
From Alice Cooper and Rudolf Schenker to Eric Singer and members of Helloween, a Who's-Who of hard rock and metal have come together to breathe life into this epic rock opera, giving this work an extra-charmed feel than most.
Armed with flurries of pristine power metal guitars, the keen sense of dramatic songwriting nuances executed shine on tracks like the grandiose title track and "Devil in the Belfry" while tender ballads like "What Kind of Love" and "Cry Just a Little" scream for the kind of mainstream success enjoyed by the likes of Bon Jovi.
This adventurous release showcases Edguy's main man at his most creative and diverse, making for an album that has something for all types of metal and rock fans.
