ARIZING
Reviewed by R. Scott Bolton
Arizing's "Advance" EP falls somewhere between the emo-laden stuff of Creed and the tamer tunes of bands like Incubus and other nu-metal monsters.
The format of the four songs on this CD will be familiar to anyone who's ever listened to the new breed of modern rock / metal, but there's something that makes Arizing stand out from the crowd. Maybe it's the smooth, emotional vocals of lead singer Matt Dalton. Maybe it's the fact that "Advance" is extremely well-produced, enhancing the band's crisp, lively dynamic. Or maybe it's the songwriting is just a little different than everything else out there. Whatever it is, Arizing's "Advance" does make an impact.
Fans of Slipknot and the like should just ignore this review completely and forget they ever heard of Arizing. However, those who prefer the more commercial sounds of Creed and their followers will find plenty to like about Arizing's "Advance."
