ANTON TSYGANKOV PROJECT

"Anti" (Self-released 2005)

Reviewed by Snidermann

This Russian guitarist is named Anton Tsygankov and, although I cannot pronounce his name, I can tell you that this is one very interesting CD.

The music here is highly imaginative and twists you in strange and rousing ways that remind me of a very well done film score. The vocals by Chuck Register are strange and almost robotic at times. There is also a Russian version of this CD with Anton on vocals).

"Anti" is strangely hypnotic throughout and it plays like a bizarre novel or movie that I could not put down. Heavy guitars, mesmerizing vocals and oddly produced music paint a very interesting and mysteriously addictive musical presentation.

The track that particularly got my attention was "The Sky" which is performed in both English and Russian. Now that's something you don't hear every day.

"Anti" is a very well done CD that deserves a listen from anyone interested in high quality, although slightly off kilter, music.
