AMOEBIC DYSENTERY

"Hospice Orgy" (Deathgasm; 2006)

Reviewed by Christopher J. Kelter

As if the band?s name and album title didn?t give it away, Amoebic Dysentery ply their trade in ?porno goregrind.? Personally, I find it hard to take this particular genre seriously, although a small but rabid audience probably can?t get enough of it. ?Hospice Orgy,? the latest album from Amoebic Dysentery, is a blasting foray into this particular sub-genre?s limited appeal.

As one might expect, the track lengths on ?Hospice Orgy? barely average past the one-minute mark. And porno-goregrind it is ? with hyper fast blastbeats Amoebic Dysentery push the speed envelope. Occasionally, Amoebic Dysentery?s music delves into the punk and metal realms for an interesting tri-chotomy to the band?s music exploits.

The vocals are deep, guttural, and without a doubt are digitally processed and manipulated. The vocals are unintelligible and one can only guess what the hell is being said; the spoken words bits are explicit (if sometimes comical) excerpts from what I can only assume are really bad horror movies that push the boundaries of good taste.

The song titles evoke Anal Cunt at all turns. Most folks will find the song titles offensive ? even repulsive on occasion; the rest will rejoice with unfettered glee.

A cover of Repulsion?s ?The Stench of Burning Death? is included.

?Hospice Orgy? features cartoon-ish, humorous artwork that actually enhances the disc?s overall appeal. In fact, the album features a cartoon book that can be colored at the purchaser?s own discretion.

Fans of the porno-goregrind genre should seek Amoebic Dysentery?s ?Hospice Orgy? as their next must-have purchase.

?Hospice Orgy? was produced, intentionally, by nobody in particular.

Amoebic Dysentery: Will on guitars, bass, drum programming, and vocals; Alex on vocals and bass.
