"Ace Monroe" (Independent; 2023)

Ace Monroe: a five-piece rock outfit out of Tampa, Florida. They remind me the of the rock bands of the 70s—the storytelling of Creedence Clearwater Revival and Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band; the blues-based rock of The Allman Brothers and the musicianship of a young Aerosmith. I know that is a large shadow to fill; however, the boys in Ace Monroe do it well.
The music struck me with sheer force of sound, mixed with outstanding musicianship and superb songwriting. When you put all those factors together you get Ace Monroe. Bands like Judas Priest, AC/DC and early Alice Cooper—the five-piece band holds a special place in my heart and Ace Monroe fit right in. The songwriting of the band is truly outstanding. There is one song on the recording called "Workin' Like A Dog" and a line from that song is "Workin' like a dog, ain't working for me." Great stuff.
To look at the band, none of them can be out of the 20s. I am having a hard time narrowing down their actual ages. The band gets their name from a British band Ace from the mid to late 70s.
I really liked this band from the first cut—the blusey rock, the killer lyrics and a charisma that is years ahead of their time. Ace Monroe is truly one outstanding young rock band.
